ABOUT THE ARTIST: Created by Bay Area Artist Malia Landis, these Ceramic Abalone Shells are a celebration of the Pacific Northwest's natural beauty. Raised visiting the Mendocino Coast, Malia experienced the salty world of abalone diving and harvesting. The Artist aims to captured the unique beauty of the Abalone Shell while creating one of kind artworks.ABOUT THE SHELLS: These Ceramic Abalone Shells are individually hand made, textured and glazed with the intention to not copy nature but to expand the possibilities of the natural form. Using variation of color and surface, the work is not a literal representation. The Abalone form embodies a lovely aesthetic and a perfect complement to functionality. They have the potential to be sculptural, and even more wonderful as presentation. These Ceramic Abalone Shells are everyday durable and have been glazed with a food safe surface.COMMISSIONS:Commissions are welcomed if a particular shell size and color are desired.
